Primary Care & Behavioral Health Integration

In 2013, DMH Commissioner Marcia Fowler chaired the Behavioral Health Integration Task Force (BHTF), established by Chapter 224: An Act Improving the Quality of Health Care and Reducing Costs Through Increased Transparency, Efficiency and Innovation. The BHTF’s deliberations, informed by national exerts, resulted in recommendations regarding strategies, concerns, and best practices for integrating behavioral health with primary care.  With support from the Knowledge Center, the Children’s Behavioral Health Advisory Council advised the BHTF on the issues as they relate to children’s behavioral health and primary care integration.
