Integrating Mindfulness Into Care of Children and Adolescents Webinar, September 15, 2015
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) has been widely studied and scientifically demonstrated to enhance well-being in a variety of health conditions in adults. Recently, there is growing interest in and use of meditative based interventions in youth. This webinar, conducted by Jefferson Prince, MD and Marguerite Roberts, MS, NP from the Family Resource Center at North Shore Medical Center in Salem, MA provided an introduction to mindfulness and MBSR as adapted for youth. It reviewed typical physical sensations, emotions and thoughts reported by children to the physiology of stress responses and strategies for working with youth. It also explored mindfulness practices and supporting activities to guide youth in emotional regulation, promoting resilience, responding thoughtfully and making healthy decisions.
