Core Element Overview
An essential part of the Family Partner role is to ensure that family and youth voices are represented in all services. The Family Partner helps caregivers and youth understand the services they are receiving and supports them in participating in services as much as possible, including when the youth is in an out-of-home setting such as a hospital or group home. When youth and families receive services from many systems, the Family Partner can also help service providers understand how the different services may affect each other. To do this work, the Family Partner will often need to explain the importance of peer support and the Family Partner role.
