Core Element Overview
The goal of safety planning is to identify situations that can lead to risk and crisis and then to agree on strategies to reduce these risks. This process starts with reviewing previous safety plans and current supports. As the safety plan is developed, the Family Partner supports the caregiver in naming their concerns and saying how they would like their child to be supported when triggered. The Family Partner works with the family to integrate the safety plan into their everyday lives while finding or strengthening safety networks. The safety plan should be updated regularly to reflect changes and new situations.
