A Family Partner shares a profound life experience with the caregivers they work with. Because of this, the Family Partner has a unique ability to understand and identify with caregivers and create a trusting relationship with them. The Family Partner uses their skills and knowledge from getting services for their own child to support caregivers in developing the same skills. The Family Partner does this while respecting the privacy of the caregiver and their family, as well as the Family Partner’s own privacy. The Family Partner also inspires hope by showing caregivers that they have had a similar life journey and have been able to adapt to and handle the unexpected challenges and stresses of caring for their child.
