The ARC Summer Intensives, which began in 1985, are based on Dr. Joyce Maguire Pavao’s Normative Crises in the Development of the Adoptive Family framework, her years of clinical experience, and her consulting and training expertise. The Intensives utilize family systems theory, which is the basis of Dr. Pavao’s work.
This year’s conference is a think tank and a dialogue to explore the difficult conversations. As ever, we will use narratives, panels, presentations, and films to explore the many emotional and psychological elements in adoption. At this year’s ARC Summer Intensives, we will focus on the aspects of adoption that involve diverging viewpoints among professionals, agencies, and countries. You can come to listen and learn, or you can come to contribute – both are accepted and encouraged.
